SOME BACKGROUND
The first time I met Sarah was 10 years ago at Q8bookstore.
I had just returned from a writing residency at Iowa University's International Writing Program, thanks to a gracious nomination by the US Embassy in Kuwait and the financial support of Kuwait's Ministry of Youth.
Sarah was a teenager in 2013. After reading some poems from my self-published book 'Before Young Adult Fiction,' where I describe my ideas on Anglowaiti literature, she and I had a delightful chat about language, identity, culture, and self-expression in Kuwait. I thought she was bright and eloquent and loved her vibrant energy.
In fact, I have a picture of us acting goofy at that event but I was told to "Burn the whole computer and erase all evidence!"

TODAY
Sarah is an instructor at Gulf University for Science and Technology. She holds a BA in English Literature and an MA in English Literature and American Studies from the University of Manchester. She is also a writer who has published poems in an anthology titled "And We Chose Everything."
I wanted Sarah to lead the discussion on my English translation of Bothayna's novel because her thesis and graduate work have both examined my writing on Anglowaiti literature as well as Bothayna’s Arabic texts.
